After removal of your braces, we will begin the retention phase of your treatment. Although we will monitor your retention for at least 12 months as part of your treatment, we recommend faithful retainer wear well into the future in order to maintain your orthodontic results. Your retainers may be removable or fixed into place. Removable retainers should be worn day and night for the length of time Dr. Depew recommends, and then just at night after that. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back into your mouth. Fixed retainers should be flossed regularly.
