You do not need a referral from another doctor to be seen by an orthodontist. You may come to our office if your or your child’s smile concerns you.
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to orthodontics. Every case is different – even with twins! The duration of your treatment varies due to the severity of the case, your age, the overall health of teeth and bones, and patient compliance. Generally, treatment may take anywhere from 12 to 36 months.
Surgical Orthodontics is usually limited to non-growing or adult patients (jaw growth is usually complete by age 16 in girls and 18 in boys).
An expander is a custom appliance that fits on the roof of a child’s mouth. Using an expander during early orthodontic treatment can expand the jaw size to create room for crowded erupting teeth, correct crossbites, and prevent future dental impactions.
A common misconception is that you can only see an in-network orthodontist. FALSE! For almost all orthodontic insurances, you will still get the same insurance benefit regardless of if you see an in-network doctor or not. You can have quality treatment and not have to go to an in-network doctor.
This is a complimentary service for our patients who are in active orthodontic treatment. All we ask is that you spread the word about how awesome it is! Preference will be given to families with both parents working outside of the home.
Developing tooth decay and gum disease may cause some delays in your orthodontic treatment. It is important to see your general dentist for routine dental check-ups and cleaning to keep gum disease and cavities at bay. Brushing and flossing also play an important role in ensuring your teeth and gums are healthy.
Brush and floss teeth after every meal. If you find flossing very challenging, you may use floss threaders or water flossers to help you clean in between teeth.
